Project Overview
DigitalDowntown.net is a wireless 802.11b
network, allowing a user to access the Internet from anywhere within the
coverage area, and performing the same tasks that one might engage in
plugged into the Internet from home or the office. Checking
e-mail, doing research and chatting with co-workers become possible
while sitting outside at area businesses for lunch or dinner, or a special
event in the Downtown Community Plaza.
This wireless Internet service is free of charge and relatively unrestricted.
Anyone who wants to use it may, as long as they have purchased the appropriate
wireless hardware and read our acceptable use
policy.
Internet services, network hardware, technical support and design support for
the project has been donated free of charge by the Community
Partners for the project. For more information, see our list of
FAQs.
